HacXLerate by byteXL – Terms & Conditions

Please read the following Terms & Conditions carefully before registering for HacXLerate. By participating, you agree to be bound by these terms.

  1. Eligibility

    • Open to students currently enrolled in universities/colleges.
    • Participants must register individually or in teams (as per event guidelines).
    • Organizers reserve the right to verify student identity, academic status, and eligibility at any stage.
    • If the information provided during registration is found to be false, misleading, or unverifiable, the participant/team may be disqualified immediately.
  2. Registration

    • Registration is mandatory to participate in the Hackathon.
    • Once submitted, registrations cannot be canceled, withdrawn, or refunded under any circumstance.
    • Incomplete, duplicate, or invalid registrations may be rejected.
  3. Participation Guidelines

    • Participants must adhere to all timelines, submission processes, and judging criteria.
    • All work must be original and created during the Hackathon timeframe. Plagiarism or use of prebuilt projects without disclosure will lead to disqualification.
    • If any false information, misrepresentation, or rule violation is identified at any stage, the organizers may cancel participation, withhold prizes, or revoke recognition.
  4. Intellectual Property (IP)

    • The original ideas and code developed during the Hackathon remain the intellectual property of the participants.
    • By participating, you grant byteXL and its partners a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to showcase, publish, and promote your project for educational, promotional, and event-related purposes.
    • Participants must ensure their work does not violate third-party intellectual property rights.
  5. Mentorship & Support

    • Mentors and experts will be available to guide participants during the Hackathon.
    • Their role is advisory; the final responsibility of the project lies solely with the participants.
  6. Prizes & Recognition

    • Winners will be selected by the judging panel based on predefined evaluation criteria.
    • The decision of the judges and organizers is final and binding.
    • Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash or alternatives.
  7. Code of Conduct

    • Participants must maintain professionalism, respect fellow participants, mentors, judges, and organizers.
    • Any misconduct, including harassment, abusive language, offensive behavior, or disruption, will result in immediate disqualification.
    • Organizers have full authority to remove participants/teams who violate the spirit of the Hackathon.
  8. Liability & Disclaimer

    • Organizers are not responsible for any technical difficulties, data loss, or connectivity issues faced by participants.
    • Participants are responsible for their equipment, internet connection, and timely submissions.
    • The Hackathon is provided on an “as-is” basis without warranties of uninterrupted access or error-free systems.
  9. Privacy & Data Use

    • By registering, participants consent to the collection and use of their information (name, college, contact details, submissions) for event management, communication, and marketing.
    • Data will not be sold or misused beyond event-related purposes.
  10. Modification & Cancellation

    • Organizers reserve the right to modify rules, schedules, or event structure as required.
    • In rare cases of cancellation due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., force majeure), organizers will not be liable for claims or compensation.
    • Participant cancellations are not allowed under any circumstance.
